Sea of Joy is an original acrylic on canvas painting inspired by a sunset over Santa Monica Bay. The painting depicts a view of iconic Santa Monica Pier as seen from Venice Beach a short stroll from the little art studio where I lived and worked for 40 years.
I painted the original version of this scene, around 2012 when I lived and worked in Venice. I completed this more recent painting in 2024 at my studio in Santa Monica. The new work was inspired walking my dog Hampton along the cliff's of Palisades Park watching the sunset with a view of the iconic pier.
